If you've been watching The Great British Menu, you'll know local restaurant chefs Ryan and Liam Simpson-Trotman of Orwells are currently competing, respectively, for the Central England title and the North West of England title in the hope of going through to the final. In the show, 24 of the nation's top chefs are challenged to create exceptional dishes to be served at a banquet in the beautiful Great Hall of St Bartholomew's Hospital.
At Orwells in Henley, the ethos behind the cooking is to serve top quality food with a major focus on sustainability, with up to seventy five per cent of their fruit and vegetables grown on their own smallholding. Ryan and Liam source as locally as possible and are also passionate beekeepers, producing honey for the restaurant.
And in another first, Ryan and Liam are not only also the first chef duo to appear on the show, but also the first married couple.
