The Loch & the Tyne in Windsor celebrates coronation with special dessert

The King's Trifle served at The Loch & the Tyne in Windsor for the coronation Is there anything more British than a trifle? The answer is yes, a trifle created for HRH King Charles III's Coronation by the Michelin-starred Chef Adam Handling! The Loch & the Tyne in the Royal Borough of Old Windsor is now serving Adam's strawberry and ginger trifle. Chosen to truly represent the best of British, the trifle uses tasty, seasonal ingredients to create a modern take on one of the UK's favourite traditional desserts. Guests can now try this delicious dessert, called 'The King's Trifle' which is now on the menu at The Loch & the Tyne, aptly (for the occasion) located in Old Windsor just a stone's throw from the plethora of activities happening in the Royal Borough over the coronation weekend.

In Adam's words, "I wanted to create a fun British dish of which so many of us have fond childhood memories. I think trifle is one of those desserts that's nostalgic for a lot of people, so this is my modern interpretation of our reminiscent youth, using the best of British ingredients – Scottish strawberries, Yorkshire Parkin cake and eggs and dairy from British farmers. It's a real honour to have been asked to create recipes for the coronation – it's an iconic moment in our history and I hope lots of people will be celebrating in style!"

The Loch & the Tyne is Adam's restaurant and pub with guest bedrooms, set in the beautiful countryside of Old Windsor, serving classic British pub food with a luxury approach. As well as being awarded three AA rosettes (the highest-rated accommodation in the Windsor area), The Loch & the Tyne won Gourmet Bolthole at the Food & Travel Reader Awards 2022 and achieved 32nd place in the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropub Awards 2023.
