Missenden Abbey, Buckinghamshire

Missenden Abbey, Buckinghamshire

Set amidst 10 acres of picturesque grounds in the heart of the Chilterns, Medieval 12th-century Missenden Abbey boasts a stunning summerhouse, pond and a 500-year-old cedar tree – there are photo opportunities aplenty at this exclusive-use wedding venue!
After a devastating fire in 1985, Missenden Abbey was lovingly recreated and restored to its former glory with the addition of new architectural design; it perfectly blends history with modern aesthetics, yet still features unique stained-glass windows.Standing on its decorative staircase overlooking the wedding party is an unforgettable experience for any couple, who will be encapsulated by the romanticism of the period of the house the moment they enter the abbey.
Ceremonies take place in the Garden Room, which holds up to 100 guests. The bridal party will make their grand entrance down the stunning staircase into the Garden Room, which features contemporary stained-glass windows. Alternatively, the Library can also be a setting for vows.Wedding celebrations continue after the ceremony with a drinks reception within the beautiful grounds, or in bad weather, across the Library, Garden Room and bar.The wedding breakfast can be held in the adjoining dining rooms with vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows, which in total can hold up to 115 people. Or perhaps couples would prefer the seasonal marquee with a starlit canopy which can hold up to 150 people, and up to 230 in the evening.
When couples choose to host their day at Missenden Abbey, they will benefit from complimentary use of the bridal suite on the night of the wedding.
