Sarah Blount, 28, married Tim Widdows, 36, at The Copse, Kidmore End, Oxfordshire, on 24th June, 2017.
The Copse is an amazing country house. We liked the idea of having a large space for a few days and having full control over everything.
I wore a tight-fitting mermaid-style lace dress with an open back. Once a seamstress tailored it to me, it felt amazing – light and easy to move in. I had a few accessories, including a crystal belt, to finish it off.
A few days after we got engaged, Tim spotted The Copse, just a few miles from our house. We were so lucky to find out it also had a wedding licence!
I walked down the aisle to an instrumental piece from the Legends of the Fall soundtrack, which was very special to us.
The wedding was completely outdoors, and the venue was stunningly in bloom. I had white rose bouquets, as well as stems of lisianthus and baby's breath in jars for the tables.
We used gin bottles for our table names and jars with rustic flower stems and candles for centrepieces. The table plan was hand-painted, and the place names were made out of corks.
For the décor, we wanted a laid-back feed with lots of crafty touches. The venue also had an amazing storage shed of decorations.
We wanted to have lots of different areas so made use of the space by having a firepit area with hay bales, a croquet lawn and a large outside bar.
We also had a gin bar and batches of cocktails that we devised.
As I don't really like cake, we commissioned a bakery to make lots of brownies, tarts and rocky road for a big dessert table, which went down really well – especially towards the end of the night.
We had a sit-down dinner under the huge stretch tent, which was another great selling point about The Copse.
After dinner, we had an acoustic guitarist playing on the balcony and, later, a DJ and saxophonist, which was something different that people didn't expect. Outside in the countryside, it just sounded amazing.
