Lains Barn
This family-run wedding venue is located near the charming market town of Wantage, with a breathtaking backdrop of the North Wessex Downs’ rolling hills. It is a quintessentially rural setting, in the heart of Oxfordshire. The barn has a rural feel but is easily accessible by car or train.
The main barn offers a generous space with original rustic features including wooden beams and a unique tiled floor blended with contemporary furnishings and cosy furnished booths – perfect for the evening party. The U-shaped design creates the perfect flow from day to evening and the space is framed by a beautiful, vaulted ceiling with large barn doors opening out on to the green and adjoining terrace.
The outdoor grounds feature a beautifully manicured, festoon-lit seating area, and a covered area equipped with a pizza oven and parrilla grills where evening pizzas and snacks are cooked and served. When night falls, Lains’ grounds are illuminated by festoon lighting creating fabulous photo opportunities.
The spacious barn is large enough for up to 150 guests seated for an indoor ceremony which is heated in the colder months. During the summer months, couples can opt for a ceremony outside on the manicured lawn.
Dining and dancing happen in the main barn and during the warmer months, the doors can be opened. Up to 150 guests can be seated comfortably for dinner and up to 200 can be hosted for the evening reception. The main hall leads into the indoor bar area featuring a custom-built bar that’s ideal for the reception party.
The barn is unique in its design with the wood block-tiled floor. The flow of the venue is very social with its U-shaped layout and three different spaces surrounding the main courtyard keeping the party together rather than losing guests to sprawling grounds. The grain store is also unique to Lains Barn and popular for photographs.
Couples can make use of bridal party room to get ready in, plus the barn comes decorated with greenery and drapes included in price. An event coordinator is available on the run up to and on the big day itself and there’s a late licence until 2 am (for an extra fee past midnight).
Catering is supplied by the talented team at the venue who have a background in high-end event catering so can offer high-quality food with attention to detail for large numbers of guests.
